One afternoon, we were given a classic van Gogh bouquet of irises and sunflowers. As the flowers began to bow, we noticed the darkening of the petals as the stems and leaves brightened and became more willowy in shape. The contrasts in line, shape and color were so strong, we knew we had to paint the fading bouquet.

With the overlaying of paint as we worked over each other’s brush strokes there is an incredible buildup of marks and color, giving the canvas a depth that appears to go well beyond the surface. The bouquet is bright, yet timeless.
