Shift was created at a time of great change in our relationship. It was of course subconscious at the time, but upon later reflection we could see the meaning in the imagery. The two farm houses represent each of us, sitting with open space between them, as if they’re isolated on their own islands. For the first time in decades, life circumstances (in this case an illness), disallowed us to have an entire understanding of each other’s experiences. It was an unsettling time.
