Last winter, we received an unexpected phone call from Deschutes Brewery. They asked if we’d be interested in creating the art for this year’s Jubelale label. We felt honored, and did not hesitate to say yes. (The Jubelale is a seasonal winter ale that has been specially packaged with original artwork every winter for the past 26 years.
We decided to depict a scene, which to us personifies a festive winter pastime. Our composition is based on the unabashed fun of sledding along with a happy dog bounding in the billowing snow.
The beer has been in stores around the country since last month, and we’re still shocked whenever we see the stacked towers of our sledders coloring up the aisles. Fifteen years ago, when we were learning to sew two pieces of fabric together, we would never have guessed this is where our art would be today!
